Need to do some VB6 development work. Re-installed VS6 but can't find MSDN
disks! Phoned Microsoft but they don't sell VS6 MSDN disks any more and
couldn't tell me if VS2005 MSDN Library would give me the help files I need
for VB6. I'm stuck! What do I do? Where do I get the disks from please?
Would the VS2005 MSDN Library CD work? My boss would pay £120 for that, but
not £££lots for a whole new VS! (Not a software house as you might have
guessed - I just do my best looking after the IT systems for a manufacturing
company)

Everything you need should be available online. You might start here,

Well, "Sorry, the page you requested is not available." appears a couple of
times. Maybe I'm doing something stupid?

On installing VS6, it asks for MSDN disks. I haven't got any - they were
thrown out when we moved site apparently. When I run VB6, I can't get Help
on whatever it is I'm trying to do. I have to go online and Google or run
VBA from Excel and hope similar info is there. What I really want to do is
download or buy MSDN disks suitable for VB6. Am I likely to find such
things, or should I write my app in VBA! LOL! Actually, now I think about
it, there is always "Record Macro"... ;o)

(Am writing an interface in VB6 to give Users a nice GUI for our horrible
manufacturing ERP software which uses SQL Svr 200 as a backend and what looks
like very elderly C++ forms as a front end. Makes DOS look modern. )

Microsoft used to allow you to get these disks online, but they've removed
them. I would guess your best bet I probably eBay - just make sure you
confirm that the CD's are in the package before you buy. There should be 3.

Do you have a web site with contact details on it?

The link worked fine for me. You might try it again (perhaps the webpage was
down for some reason when you last tried it). Alternately, you might try
this link instead (it goes directly to the VB6 section of the online help
files)

http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/dnanchor/html/vb6anchor.asp

If the link doesn't work by clicking on it, you can alway copy the text for
it to the clipboard, start up your Internet browser and paste the clipboard
contents into the Address field).

The last MSDN disks that worked with VB6 were dated October 2001. If you
have lost your copy of them, then you are out of luck. Perhaps you can find
a copy of this version of the MSDN disks for sale on ebay.

The last MSDN Library version that works with VS6 is "MSDN Library - October
2001".

Searching for "6" in MSDN Shipments index shows that they last shipped VS6
on Sep 2005:

http://msdn.microsoft.com/subscriptions/index/default.aspx

But when I go to "Shipment Contents" tab, and enter Sep 2005/DVD, I see that
they included "MSDN® Subscriptions Library, October 2001 Edition (English)"
DVD.
